How to Ride the Monorail at Disney World for Free
Walt Disney World truly is a world of its own. With so much to explore, it can be challenging to decide how to get around. Luckily, Magic Kingdom offers free transportation to help you get from one exciting destination to another. Our Frog Family is always looking for ways to maximize time and savings. Using Magic Kingdom's free transportation is frogtastic, especially if you want an efficient and cost-effective way to get around.
Whether you prefer buses, monorails or ferries, Magic Kingdom has something to get you to every place. Here is an overview of Magic Kingdom's free transportation options!
Our Guide to Magic Kingdom Transportation
You can get between almost any two points within Walt Disney World using a variety of free transportation options, especially if you're staying on-site at a Disney Resort hotel. Even if you're staying off-site and have a Park Hopper ticket, you can utilize the complimentary buses, monorails and more to hop from park to park. (Transportation options may be limited during Disney World's initial reopening phase. For more information about what you need to know when visiting Magic Kingdom, hop to our full guide here!)
Magic Kingdom Free Transportation to Other Disney Theme Parks
To EPCOT: Use the EPCOT monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center.
To Disney's Hollywood Studios: Use bus service.
To Disney's Animal Kingdom:Use bus service.
Magic Kingdom Free Transportation to Disney Resort Hotels
To Disney's Contemporary Resort: Take the resort monorail, ferry or walk using the designated walkway.
To Disney's Polynesian Village Resort: Take the bus or ferry. (Resort monorail is closed due to ongoing refurbishment through summer 2021.)
To Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: Take the resort monorail, ferry or use the new walkway (though note that it is a longer walk).
To Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground: Take the ferry.
To Disney's Wilderness Lodge: Take the ferry.
To all other Disney Resort hotels: Take the bus.
A note about resort ferries: For Disney World Resort hotels offering a water taxi to Magic Kingdom, bus service may not be regularly available. For example, we've seen buses made available at Fort Wilderness during inclement weather or during busy times, though generally, bus service is not available. Ask a cast member at check-in for the most up-to-date information, including when transportation services begin and end running each day.
Magic Kingdom Free Transportation from Other Resort Destinations
From EPCOT: Use the EPCOT monorail.
From Disney's Hollywood Studios: Take the bus.
From Disney's Animal Kingdom: Take the bus.
From Disney Resort hotels: Magic Kingdom is accessible by monorail, boat or bus from all of Disney's Resort hotels.
On-site Disney Resort hotel guests can now find bus wait times in the My Disney Experience app!
*Note: Most areas throughout Walt Disney World, including Disney theme parks, Disney water parks, resort hotels and the Disney Springs area, are accessible by bus. Some bus routes may require a transfer from one bus to another.
