Keep popping Fuse #29: Engine management
I thought I would post this up while I am searching; I am in a bit of a rush to get this fixed since I need to be in the office in the morning... so i'm trying this two prong approach. Today I hooked up my RNS-E, S4 cluster, and recaro seats. I tried to start the car and it won't crank over. Apparently I am blowing the engine management fuse every time. Hell, I can't even put a fuse in the slot without popping it. I've already disconnected the recaro seats, and am going to disconnect the RNS-E next, but is there a common issue that you guys are aware of that would result in that fuse constantly blowing out?

Check the coil pack harnesses. When I was continuously popping that fuse that's what it was for me. I'm assuming fuel injector harness wires could cause the same thing.

Here's some good info on fuse #29 from Walky-Talky. There's much more in that thread on this topic but I found this quick. Click

I just read anothe rthread and general consensus is that it's typically something in the coil park/harness area. How bizarre that this should happen right after I finish installing a bunch of interior/electrical mods. I'll have to find my engine bay lamp and take a look after I eat dinner.

Just want to apologize. In my search I see that there have actually been two very recent posts on the subject. I'll look around tomorrow and see what I can find. Hopefully it's something that has already been covered before; like coil pack harness or ECM control relay.

Has it rained recently over there?

Might be water in the ECU box, that'd be the first thing I checked. I have a feeling it's that relay especially now that you said it rained pretty bad on Friday.

Just to follow up... it was the #1 coil pack wiring. I've fixed it and it fired up on the first try.

Nice! It's crazy how you work on something completely different and some other gremlin decides to show it's face in a different area at the same time.

I ran to the front of the car and peeled back the #1 coil pack wiring to find that all 4 wires had been exposed... and were making contact. Crazy stuff.
